The study suggests that 12% of the 4743 couples registered had met on internet dating websites. The study also revealed that over 70% of those who had met their partners through internet dating sites were happy and would openly admit this to friends, family and people around them.  The number of internet dating sites is continually growing and has become a very successful and effective business. It is estimated that around 6 million people in Britain belong to an internet dating site.

Many people choose to use online dating websites to their advantage because of many wonderful benefits that accompany it. Online dating, allows people to interact with other registered users anonymously (without revealing their real identity) which is a lot safer than traditional dating. Online dating, allows people to conveniently browse numerous available candidates, who meet their search criteria. Dating websites also allow the user to chat with the people who fulfill their required criteria, and later on if they find that the person on the other end turn out to be inappropriate, they can get rid of them with the click of a button.

Seeking a partner through dating sites can even be potentially dangerous. So, It is advisable that person should take proper precautions when it comes to meeting a stranger in person. But on a contrary, online dating allows a person to gain familiarity to person to know basic important data about candidate he or she is interested in (age, height, location, education, religion, and so on) before starting the conversation or friendship. But the question arises-Is online dating a safe alternative to meet and greet way of dating? As proven, meeting a stranger on the other side of screen, is somewhere safer than meeting them in person.
